Research team from CeNTER publishes a systematic review of the literature on territorial innovation in one of the leading journals in the field

Research team from CeNTER publishes a scientific article on territorial innovation in less developed regions in Europe in one of the leading journals in the field, the European Planning Studies.

The paper systematically reviews the literature in order to understand the theoretical and practical gaps that enable territorial innovation in these regions. It debates the different forms of innovation in regions, the role of actors, the quest for geographical and place-based resources, the determinants for innovation and the ‘how’ and ‘for what’ demands of regional development. The discussion anticipates critical questions that try to promote a ‘normative turn’ in innovation policy and proposes three main questions to stimulate the development of a new generation of theories and policies for territorial innovation that support the structures and outcomes regional of innovation in Europe.

The scientific article “Territorial innovation models in less developed regions in Europe: the quest for a new research agenda?” is by Sara Moreno Pires, Alexandra Polido, Filipe Teles, Pedro Silva and Carlos Rodrigues.
